Odoo To-do: A Simple Place for Your Tasks

Not every task deserves a project plan. Sometimes you just need somewhere to jot what needs doing so it does not get forgotten. Odoo To-do is exactly that, kept simple. Continuing this run through more Odoo apps, here is To-do.

A lightweight task list

To-do is a personal list for the small stuff: reminders, notes, little jobs that do not belong in a full project but would otherwise live on a sticky note or in your head. It is deliberately simple, which is the whole point.

Right where you work

Because it lives inside Odoo, your to-do list is in the same place as the rest of your work. You are not switching to a separate notes app and hoping to remember to check it; the list is there alongside everything else you do in the system.

Organise without overkill

You can organise your tasks, group and prioritise them, without the ceremony of a project tool. It gives you just enough structure to keep on top of things, and no more, which is what makes a personal task list actually get used.

When to reach for a project instead

To-do is for personal, informal tasks. When work involves several people, stages and deadlines, that is when Project earns its place. Knowing the difference means you use the light tool for light things and the heavier tool only when the work genuinely needs it.

Part of the same system

Even something as small as a task list benefits from being in Odoo rather than scattered elsewhere. Your notes and reminders sit with your real work, so the little things are less likely to slip through the cracks.

Practical tips

  • Use To-do for personal, informal tasks that do not need a project.
  • Keep it simple; the value is in low friction, not heavy structure.
  • Prioritise so the important small jobs surface first.
  • Reach for Project when work involves several people and stages.

My take

To-do is refreshingly modest. It does not try to be a project manager; it just gives you a simple, personal list in the same place you already work, so the small things stop falling through the gaps. Sometimes the most useful tool is the one that does the least, and To-do is a good example.
